Hi Tammy, Terry and I have several methods of identifying our yarn stashes.
We put our yarn by brands in 3 or 4 drawer chests of drawers, we usse the I
D Mate Summitt to read the labels that it has stored in its data bank, and
we put the skeins in zip lock bags with 3 by 5 index cards that we've
braille all of the important information on.
Hth.

Well for the buttons, use zip lock bags. I prefer the ones that actually
have a tab like a zipper. Then Pen friend and put it on a piece of index
card and put inside bag with label. This way you can use the pen friend
before opening the bag and know what color it is. You might even want to
add size and color of buttons If buttons are still on the card from the
store put a hole in the card and use a rubber band[]elastic band]and put it
thru the hole and the card and then slip the card label thru the other end
of the elastic band.

For sewing threads I use the pen friend with half an index card and with the
elastic band and hole in the card [I use some tape to put it on the thread]
and then wrap elastic around spool. I usually double wrap the elastic on
the middle of the spool.

You can use a color identifier , but there is such an array of thread colors
it isn't easy to match.

Color labelling question Hello,

I have so many colors of yarn and would like to hear your suggestions on how
you label your colors. I have also added a variety of buttons and will
probably have to purchase some matching thread for sewing the buttons onto a
variety of dish cloths. Thanks for sharing your ideas!
