Joanns sells a round bag, with a slit in the top and a hole at each end.  It is not sectioned off, but is big enough for about 4 scains of yarn.  It folds up and zips up with a pouch on the side for supplies.

A yarn barn is a holder for yarn....there are partitions on the inside that let you take a skein of yarn  and there are individual holes through the top that you can run strands of yarn through. Many places sell these and they can be super simple and made out of cardboard to more elaborate ones that are made from wood. My dad actually made mine...and he went crazy...he made a barn on wheels that holds 8. Skeins of yarn and has a removable lid to help load the barn full of yarn....
Yes those blocks are tricky to join...but once you get the hang of it...it is easy.
