Chat Etiquette

1. Recently I’ve received a few complaints about people’s behavior
during Monday night Chat. So, I’ve put together a few rules of etiquette.
Please take time to read through these, so Monday night chat can be a
positive experience for everyone.

2. Please keep small talk to a minimum at the beginning of the call.
We need to get started in a timely manner so the call doesn’t run too
late. If you have time, you’re welcome to stay after the host is finished
and visit with one another.

3. If you come in late and the host has already started, please be
quiet about it. You don’t need to introduce yourself unless the host asks
who just came in. You don’t need to say hello to everyone, tell us about
your day or talk about the weather. This is very distracting to the host
and the other members on the call.

4. Please stay on topic. It is very distracting to discuss something
different than what the host has planned. If you wish to discuss other
topics that can be done at the end of the call after the host is finished.

5. If there is a lot of background noise in your home or if you need to
speak with others please put your phone on mute. If you need to use
technology such as computers, note takers or other telephones please put
your phone on mute or use an ear bud with your equipment.

6. We are all excited about crafts and love talking about them, so it
is easy to accidently interrupt each other. Let’s do our best to take
turns talking and try to speak clearly so that everyone can hear you. Also
keep in mind we have several members who have hearing loss and cutting down
on all the background noise and chatter really helps them.
