This is very interesting as I have not done latch hook rugs in a long time.
Thanks for sharing how you manage picture rugs.

Hi Marianne,

I have done a number of complicated pictures in latch hook. I have someone
sort the colors of yarn first into zip lock bags and label each.

Then I have someone dictate how many of each color for each row, like 6 dark
blue, 10 light blue, 25 dark blue and so on. I always have that person
start at the bottom left corner, because it is easiest to work from the
bottom up.

I start numbering the rows with row 1 being the bottom row.

I don't know if you know braille or not, but if you don't, you certainly
could do this in a word file. I'm not sure how you would label the bags of
yarn if you don't know braille.

Possibly, If you don't know braille, but you know print letters, you could
make raised line letters on braille paper. Did you know that you can lie a
piece of braille paper on several layers of paper towel and use a sewing
tracing wheel to make the letters? You have to draw backwards like you were
writing on a braille slate so when you turn it over it is going the right
way.

Hopefully this is the info you are looking for.

One time I had a puzzle with 48 pieces, of different shapes. There was a
base of 6 squares by 10 squares. The volunteer braillists traced all of the
pieces in the way I described and made me a book of each of the puzzle
pieces, and list of which pieces to use for each puzzle. I lost it in one
of my moves and have never been able to find it again. Originally I bought
it at the Chicago train station when my ex-husband and I had a big lay over.
I keep looking for it.

Bernice and the sweet Octane.

I have done latch hook rugs in the past and know how to do them. I am
looking for one for my grand daughter who is 1 but it can't be too
complicated. I purchased a cat the other day but it is so complex I can't do
the pattern unless someone is with me all the time. Does anyone have any
suggestions?
