Diane is correct.  You don't string these beads together.  You lay them flat and the mold is a shape.  You use one layer and with an iron you leave the beads in the mold and with the iron the heat fuses them together.  The iron does not touch the beads but since I was the blind one I never had the ironing job at Girl Scout Camp.

I looked up Perler beads and I think they are the ones you put on a plastic board in a design and heat them with an iron?
