Sharon, skip three chains. Yarn over, then in the fourth chain insert your needle, yarn over draw through the second and third loops from the hook end. Yarn over, take off the second and third loops, leaving one double crochet, smile.

Hi,

I’ve done some crocheting in the past, but don’t remember for sure of exactly how to make a double crochet stitch. So, after making the chain, what is the sequence?  also, I know how to make the initial slip knot, but is that the same as a slip stitch?
