[Nfb-krafters-korner] Want to know Wednesday's

This wasn't funny at the time, but now that life is good again and I think
about it, it's perhaps not funny, but was interesting and a pleasant outcome
later on.

I used to have a step son who had a terrible problem with taking things and
using them for something they weren't meant for, or in the case of jewelry,
selling it, or losing things he stole. I have two crochet hooks with wooden
handles and either aluminum or stainless steel hooks. Someone made them, and
one of my grandmother's friends was the previous owner of them. When she
passed on, her daughter gave them to me because she knew I would like to
have something to remember her mother by.

One day I went to use one of them, and noticed there was only one of them in
my case. Of course I tried to find out what happened to the other and was
met with I-didn't-take-it. I gave up and a couple of years later when I was
sorting through things and found a tool box my ex-husband had given to my
step son for a small collection of tools he had given him, there the hook
was. It was odd, because I had searched step son's room and tool box when
the hook went missing, but it wasn't there. I was certainly grateful it
turned up again.

This is not exactly a losing something in a strange place story, but in a
sense it was for me.

Oh this one is a fun one!

So we get together each Friday during the summer at a different friends
cottage to knit.  One of my knitting needles rolled across the deck at my
friend's cottage and down in between the cracks of the deck.  She pulled out
this special tool she had for  retrieving things from under the deck.  It
was a long flexible cable that had grabber fingers on one end and a button
on the other end.  She fished the grabber finger end down between the cracks
of the deck, positioned it over the knitting needle, pushed the button and
the grabber fingers opened up.  She placed them around the knitting needle,
and let go of the button.  The claws clamped onto the knitting needle.  She
then fished it back up through the crack in the deck.  Pretty cool!

Now we have an idea of many varied tools you have, what is the strangest
place you lost your yarn or tool and how did you get it back?
