Today my Mom, Pearl [Brien] Thurkettle had her 100th Birthday. She told us
the doctor came to the house by hourse and wagon to deliver her. Her sister
22 years younger was the only one delivered in a hospital out of 5
children. Her first paying job she made $11 for a 44 hour week, You could
buy a house for $4500, etc.

Back in1918 three types of treats were introduced which were carmel chreams,
A cherry chopped with nuts and covered with chocolate and fortune cookies,
my daughter had a box with each of these Treasures for us to sample. .

Mom drove her car until she was 99, but her car is in the garage and she
starts it up a few times a week. She says she is saving it for her Great
Granddaughter, but Bryana is only 14 years old.

I cannot believe the changes she has seen and experienced in the last 100
years. Woodrow Wilson was President in 1918. The use of cars the
computers that started out as large as houses and now small enough to put in
your pocket.
