Hi Tracy:

Now, that will be a new challenge for me...the smallest needles I've ever 
used is a 3.75 mm, and I thought that was thin.

coincidentally, I am the lucky recipient of a collection of knitting 
needles, both straight and circulars.  A friend's gram mother recently moved 
into an assistive living facility, so she gave me all her knitting supplies. 
This lady must have mostly been knitting socks, most of her needles are 
really thin.  I was wondering what I would do with all these needles, and 
low and behold, you came along, lol.

Hi Linda.
I use something between 2.5 and 3.0 size needle for socks.  Right now, I'm
using 2.75.
I buy sock yarn for socks, which is fingering yarn with a bit of nylon added
for strength.
I read somewhere that socks are a real work of love, because, if they're
used regularly, they will wear out, and a lot faster than a sweater or
scarf.  But they are fun, and will last a while, with care.

Your socks sound lovely.  Yes please, I would love to learn how to knit
socks.  What size needles and what weight yarn do you use?

My summer project is summer socks.  My local yarn store got some really fun
cotton sock yarn with fruit names.  I just finished making some socks in
Strawberry-red, light pink, and dark pink stripes.  I enjoyed it so much, I
bought Papaya-orange, yellow, green, and white with dark seeds stripes.



Now I've gotten back in the swing of sock-knitting, I could teach others, if
anyone is interested, how to knit toe-up, 2 at a time, socks on 2 circular
needles.
