Hello Judy Jones,

Thanks for taking the time to call us. We understand you may have had a question about an email you received, which you may think is a spoof or phishing email. We understand receiving a fake email can be a cause for concern and we urge you to always contact us if you have any questions about your PayPal account.

Below are some helpful tips and steps to keep in mind if you think you received a fake email.

I think I received a fake email
If you think you've received a suspicious email or have been directed to a fake website, forward it to spoof at paypal.com and we'll investigate it for you. Do not change the subject line and do not forward the message as an attachment. After you've forwarded the fake email, delete it from your inbox. We'll send you an email response to let you know if the email is indeed a fake. In the meantime, don't click on any links or download any attachments within the suspicious email.

If an e-mail looks suspicious, don't risk your personal information by responding to it.

If you've already responded to the sender:
If you've provided your PayPal log in details, change your PayPal password and security questions.

If you've provided details of your bank or card account, contact your bank or card company and inform them about it.

How do I report unauthorized activity on my PayPal account?
If you don't recognize a transaction or see unauthorized activity on your PayPal account, please report it to us immediately.

Here's how to report unauthorized activity:

1.	Log in to your PayPal account.

2.	Select the Resolution Center link at the bottom of the Summary page.

3.	Click Dispute a transaction.

4.	Select I want to report a transaction that I didn't authorize, and
then click Continue.

5.	Click Get PayPal Transaction ID.

6.	Click the Transaction ID next to the transaction you want to report,
and then click Continue.

7.	Complete the form and click Continue.

8.	Review the information and click Submit.

If you can't log in to your PayPal account, call us at 1 888 221 1161.

How do I report sales, transactions, or websites that violate PayPal policy?

If you encounter a website that you feel may violate our Acceptable Use Policy, please send us an email at aup at paypal.com.
<mailto:aup at paypal.com.Please> Please be as specific as possible in the message you enter, and include a description of the prohibited.

Sincerely,

PayPal
