I like that!
I never had a dad. I was adopted by a single woman, so Mothers day is the big day of the two.
Now she has passed, I do not even have a Mother!

sometimes I go to a gathering of people with disabilities for a lunch and some activities. Last Friday they offered materials to make a Father’s Day card. Each participant received a long narrow chocolate bar, and a set of paper cutouts for making the character of a hero, including a cape, to glue on the wrapper. On a strip we were to fill in the sentence like, “My Father is a hero because—“, and maybe on another strip we could write a more personal message. One important thing I remember about my dad is that he provided many of the special equipment for a blind and hearing impaired person to learn and succeed, including higher technology like some of my computers. Although he was an older conservative farmer, he even started getting computers for himself.

But because I live with a couple in a certified family home, I want to make a card for the husband, especially since they’ve never had children. I want to use my braille writer to make a picture of an elephant, following a pattern in a book of instructions for drawing with the Perkins brailler, and write something like, “I know I’’m too big to fit in your house, but may I stay in your backyard with your goats and chickens?” I got the idea from a Mother’s day card with a picture of an elephant who said, “If you weren’t my mother, I’d follow you home and ask you to keep me.”
