[Nfb-krafters-korner] Fabric online?

Tracey, you should be able to find ffabric online from Joannes, WalMart,
Amazon, and more. If you buy solid colors, knowing what you are getting
will be simpler for the first round. Sewing with jersey requires you to
stretch the fabric as you sew, so I would suggest beginning with cotton
woven or a blend of cotton and polly. Be sure to know the width of the
bfabric, as well as the length. You can buy a pattern for basic tops,
etc., online, as well. You need to have someone trim the pattern on the
cutting line before you ccut around the edges. It will tell you how many
pieces it makes, and you probably want to begin with only a few. Facings
count as pieces on a pattern. If you have someone who sews to guide you,
they can tell you all of this. If you need to confer with someone on this
list, it works. Joyce would be an excellent person to workj with knits or
woven fabric. I would be glad to help, but will be away from home for most
of the month of July.
I once taught a class on making an apron by phone. It does not require a
pattern and has many straight hems and seams. Perhaps it has been long
enough to repeat that class this fall if there is interest and a schedule
can be found.

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Fabric online?

Does anyone buy fabric online, and does it work out well? I don't know of
any fabric stores near where I live, and the one I know of in Manhattan has
beautiful stuff, but too expensive for a first try.

I was thinking I might find some reasonably priced jersey or cotton at
Amazon or somewhere and try to make myself a summer top.

And, if people have bought fabric at Amazon, could you recommend what to
search for?

Thanks.

Tracy
