[Nfb-krafters-korner] Want to know Wednesday

This might be a good year to ask for a spot on the senior division agenda at
national convention.  However, we all know that many people can't afford to
go to national convention.  Where there are active senior divisions in
states, we need to make contact there.  We need to get on their agendas at
state conventions, but we also need to make ourselves available as a
resource to divisions and to agencies when someone is looking for help with
a ccraft.  There are people losing vision and giving up knitting and
chrocheting because they think they can't do it without vision.  Other
crafts, as well no doubt.  

We think of peoiple on this list as the active members, but there are lots
of people who don't use computers or don't like using computers who craft.
If  We reach them it will have to be   by word of mouth, mostly locally. 
It seems to me that this division needs to do two kinds of service:  1 is to
make things for charity and most of us do that; 2 is to help blind people
learn to do new crafts and continue doing those they like. We can help in
other ways, of course, but these two are ongoing. It doesn't take anything
away from making friends and all the stuff that goes on here.

Have we reached out to other divisions?  I'm thinking the Seniors Division
might have people who don't know that they can carry on with their favorite
craft after losing their sight.  Perhaps that is terribly ageist of me,
picturing older ladies who want to knit.

NJ has a very active Seniors Division.  I am not a member though, so I don't
know what they do.
