Yes, of course if you are starting out, start with wooden or plastic hooks as the yarn behaves itself better, Warm smile. Hey can you even get wooden crochet hooks any more?

I imagine somewhere is an article about beginning tools for yarn work. It is probably under crochet or knitting.

Good Morning Tammy and everyone, I pretty much don't have a preference on Crochet hooks, I have used both plastic and metal ones.
I would think that the plastic ones are better for the beginner crocheter in that the friction would be better for the person to have more control over the stitches not slipping off the hook.
I started with the jumbo plastic hooks and chunky yarn and progressed from there.
Should we or could we talk about this some more on the Crochet group site?

I love the aluminum hooks for crochet because the yarn slides across it the way I like it.  I even like the feel of them in my hand.  I don’t have a particular brand as long as the yarn glides over it smoothly.  The plastic hooks seem to drag.  Could all be in my head.  Smile!
