[NFB-Krafters-Korner] proper way to change colors/adding yarnends to project?

i haven’t be taught the proper way to do this, so thought i would ask here.  i have been tying knots and crocheting the ends in a stitch.  i am sure there is a more proper way to do this.  thanks.
