I heartily recommend Barbara Walker's Treasury of Knitting Patterns,
available in braille from NLS.  There are volume 1 and volume 2, each with
about 4 braille volumes.
I downloaded vol 2 into my notetaker, and have used it several times to
choose patterns for sweaters and summer tops.

Sounds like an interesting project.  I'd be interested to know what patterns
you choose.  And I'll check out the book you mention, too.
There's another called Knitting Folk Sweaters, but not sure if most
instructions are written or charted.  Beats me why NLS transcribes books
with lots of charts, then usually doesn't include any of them.

Hello, All,
I'm beginning the process of designing my first Irish knit sweater. So 
far, the best information I have found comes from the directions from 
Elizabeth Zimmerman's "A Knitter's Almanac" where she guides her 
readers through the construction of an Irish sweater. What I need is a 
book or internet site of possible cable and background patterns to 
choose from. I've got the ones from Bookshare. Does anyone have any 
other suggestions?
