Thanks.  So, the orbit doesn't work with 16 or 32 gig sd cards?  You can get
a lot of .txt stuff on smaller gig cards though.  What file types does it
work with and does it read with speech or just braille?  Thanks.

Karen, to turn on the Orbit, I hold down the power button for 2 seconds,
then it takes maybe another second to flash its display and be ready to go.
It has no built-in memory.  Everything is on an SD card, the one about the
size of a stamp.  It can read a card up to 6 gb.
It doesn't do any translation; you get back exactly what you wrote, which I
like a lot, since I tend to write in a mix of codes, including my own
shorthand.

Jamie, there is a manual on the SD card that comes with the machine, and
also on the APH website.  I found the one on the website more helpful in the
beginning, since I didn't know how to use the Orbit well enough to make good
use of the one on the machine.

	Tracy, is this an instant on notetaker like the Braille Lite was?
What is the capacity? 

I have a Focus and it is now supposed to accept notes but I haven't figured
it out yet.

I thought it was germain, in a way.  My notetaker is full of craft books and
notes on projects.  I have a whole file to inventory my yarn stash, and
another where I write down all sorts of things about projects, like what
yarn I used, the color, the needles, the gauge, patterns, how many stitches
to cast on, increase or decrease ... it's all useful, next time I want to
make something similar, or just remind myself what color something is and
what it's made of.

Hello, Tracy,
Thanks for this information. I had read that there was an issue with the
Orbit's refresh mechanism but I'm glad to know that it's only the sound.
Some [people would wonder what this has to do with crafting but, I will
admit that my ancient note taker is filled with my knitting patterns, so
this is important to us. If anyone would like to add a message commenting on
the Orbit's competition, the Braille Me, that would be welcome.
