[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Dexterity improvement through crafts?

The clay is baked in the oven for ten minutes. You let them cool down and
they are done. Glue the magnets on once they are cooled and they are ready
to go. I like using this clay, as it is already colored and you can get
them in just about any color. Sometimes, tools come with the clay. It is
lots of fun!

You can also use silicon molds to make certain figures, such as a Lego mini
fig or a heart or whatever. Anything goes! I will sometimes use the
findings and make it so it is a charm or a keychain. Kids love them, as
well as adults!

ReNae,
I am curious about the Fimo clay, which is a polymer clay. After you create
your magnets does the clay dry on its own or do you have to bake it in an
oven or something? I am also curious how you design your magnets.
Thanks for allowing me to ask my curiosity questions.-----Original

I learned to crochet after I lost mhy sight. I absolutely love it and am so
glad I learned. I also like to do Sculpti and Fimo clay, which is a
polymer clay. I make little magnets, charms and little figurines. I can't
see the colors, but I use AIRA, Be my eyes, labeling or other ways to
determine the colors. I use Way Around tags a lot, especially to mark my
yarn. Just a few ideas.

HI Dotty,

Hmmm, a potters wheel isn't something I considered at all actually...
I've only ever used the electric ones and I can't imagine those are cheap,
definitely something to look in to. I will have to craft by touch as I don't
have enough vision left to see anything useful like stitches or the like. I
can see colors still, but only the brightest ones and only in good lighting;
most of them blend together and wind up looking either white or black to me.

The more suggestions I read, the more I'm thinking something like crochet or
knitting may be the way to go. It's a very good thing google is my friend
since at this point, I'm not even 100% sure what the difference between the
two are, lol.

Thanks again,

Sarah
