She remembers how to knit pretty well.  She wants to knit hats for charity.
I do this myself, but I don't actually use a pattern.  I can explain what I
do, but she might find it confusing, when it comes to the decrease part.

I would start her out with a scarf, with just the knit stitch.
See what cast on she knows.  Maybe teach her the knit cast on.
This is the easiest thing and the length does not really matter.  She can
hold it up to another scarf, for measurement, if she can not measure.

She will be happy to be able to make something she can use or give as a
gift!

The next easiest thing is the grand ma's dish cloth

Cast on 4.
K2 yo k to the end of the row.
Repeat until you have the with you want.  The diagonal of the cloth.  About
90 stitches or so.

Decrease
K k2 tog yo k2 tog k to end of row
Repeat until you have 4 stitches
Cast off

My new knitting friend is looking for simple patterns.  I have lots, but she
doesn't have email, or even a computer.  She also doesn't know braille.

I thought I'd check NLS audio.  Does anyone have recommendations? I never
use audio patterns, so haven't a clue about them.
