I would use the sock loom. As for the yarn, you will want something with 
some nylon for a bit of stretch.

I have not made socks yet so I’m not familiar enough with the bind off 
methods for the loom.

Is your sock loom adjustable?

That’s a really fantastic idea. And maybe mama can make him fancy footsies 
for Christmas or his birthday.

Would I loom tube socks on a 12 peg loom? Or would I still use the sock 
loom? Or some other fine gauge loom? Any recommendations for type of yarn? 
He really likes soft things. Maybe I’ll let him pick out his own yarn.

Also, would I basically loom a hat? Just a tiny one that could be worn on 
the foot? What kind of cast off is most appropriate? I read something called 
the pillow case cast off, I think? I didn’t quite understand how to cross 
over to each side of the loom for every Peg I bind off.

For a growing 4year old, I recommend knitting tube socks that are close to 
knee length. As he grows, the socks get shorter but still fit.

This is something I learned from a knitting podcast. Once he stops growing, 
then invest the time into socks with a heel.

When I originally posted this email, I saw none of the responses. Because I 
was at convention and I had so many emails that I missed all of the 
responses. So…

I don’t know the gauge but it’s a sock loom so it’s very fine gauge and they 
recommend very fine yarn. I did eventually find some patterns from authentic 
knitting board. So… I now have to commit myself to making two of the same 
thing. I’m a little overwhelmed since the loom is 56 pegs and the yarn is so 
fine that there’s many, many rows. I did tiny socks once upon a time with 
kathy and that felt doable. It’s just that my kids, especially my 
four-year-old, love to wear socks to bed. He always wants to use the socks 
he wore all day long. I’d love to be able to make him socks as long as he 
wants to wear socks. So… I want to make fun color ones that he would like.
