Joyce, firstly, I know how frustrating Windows 10 can be. I've been using it for a while now, though, and have gotten quite used to it.

I'd like to let you know that holding down the power button to turn off a computer isn't recommended, and should only be done if you have absolutely no other way of shutting down the machine.

Are you a screen reader user? If so, these directions should work. If you use magnification software, I think they should still work, as I'm pretty sure these are Windows keyboard shortcuts and not specific to any one screen reader. Note that these commands can be performed from anywhere in Windows.
1. Press Windows+x, that is, hold down the Windows key, press the letter x, and release both keys at the same time.
2. A menu will pop up with a bunch of options. Press the letter u.
3. Press either the up or down arrow key to get to the option called shut down and press enter on it. You'll have other options in this list. Notably, hibernate is missing from this list, and if you'd like instructions on enabling it (Microsoft saw fit to hide this option in Windows 10 for some strange reason) just send a reply to this thread telling me you'd like them and I'll be happy to give you instructions on how to put the hibernate option back in this menu.
5. Press enter on the shut down option, and your computer will propperly shut down.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Ari
