Cathy F,

Have you tried top down socks? Kitchener the toes and that is less fiddly
than the figure eight cast-on (my preferred method).

That does sound difficult. I have not tried that technique. I have never
been successful at even making socks. I hope to figure out what is keeping
me from understanding the problem.

It has to do with beginning the sock with the figure eight cast on.
