[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Knitting help

If you have dropped some stitches, you have 2 choices.
You can try to pick them back up. This involves finding the loop you dropped, then using a crochet hook to pull the closest un-knitted, ladder stitch through the loop, then the laddered stitch becomes the loop, and you repeat with the next ladder. It's hard to explain in an email. And you have to make the new loop bumps come out on the same side as all your other bumps.
Or, you can put the dropped stitches on a holder, or pull them up to the needle any old how, then knit backwards, (unknit or tink), until you've un-knitted back to where you dropped your stitches, then start over from that point.

I've done a lot of tinking in my time. I recently learned how to pick up dropped stitches, and that often works well, but there are still times when I have to back up for a few rows. Mittens are pretty small, so backing up wouldn't be a big deal. But backing up through a row where you've knit some stitches together can be very tricky.
HTH.

Subject: [NFB-Krafters-Korner] Knitting help

Hi there. I am knitting the mittens that were posted a couple of years ago by someone on this list.
I got to the thumb and what a mess I have. If I use the stitches that were on the older, there are big gaps and it’s like some stitches ran down a few rows. I tried to pick them up but no success.
Besides starting again, does anyone have any ideas?
Lovette
