[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Slippers

I'm in a mood to crochet a pair of slippers.  I downloaded a book from
Bookshare, The Big Book of Slippers, and it looks pretty good.  It has basic
patterns for soles and tops, then a section of ways to decorate them.
Oddly, it doesn't have a table of contents, but still looks useful.

Someone recently was looking for ways to make soles less slippery.  Did you
select a way, and was it successful?  

I'm thinking the rubber paint they put on the bottom of hospital socks would
work, but I don't know where to get it, or if it's a pain to use.
