Oh geez Joyce! That is horrible! What patterns do you use for mittens? I’ve been wanting to make some :)

I was going along fine and actually got above the hole for the thumb and managed to drop a stitch on the side. Well I picked it up and tugged on it too much so now I didn't like the way it was feeing. I took it off the needles and pulled it out fast &quick and then I tried picking up the stitches. After fussing with it yesterday on and off [that is the yarn I'm talking about] this morning I had them all on the needles and working up to the decrease rows. Now I put it down & went out this afternoon thinking I did not want to get half way thru the decreasing and wstop. I waited until tonight while sitting and made it all the way to the last decrease row and went in search for my yarn needle so I could close it up. I put the yarn thru the top and went to go around the second time and yep, I dropped a stitch on the last row. I put the needle that I planned on using and pulled it thru the last stitch and put a few stitches to reinforce the top and tied it off. Let me say that this skein of yarn traveled to South Carolina and back to CT. It hasn't been put away and just bouncing in and out of a few tote bags. Well I gave that one mitten my touchy fealing it and I am sorry to say, it did not meet up to my standards. I not only ripped it out again, but I took the skein of yarn and untangled it and turned it into 2 balls. I give up for today. I will go back to it in a couple of days. Man I was looking back and I have not knitted mittens in over a year. I guess I need to practice.
