Terry, I have a set. They are three needles. Each needle is designed as follows: on each end are your needle points. In the middle is a short cord. There are actually two sizes of cord in the set. The second size is in a little pocket on the front of the cotton case. There are also a couple of extenders and bottom buttons in case you want to make your needles straight. You divide your stitches on two needles and knit with the third. The needles  are flexible enough that you don't need a third needle for stitches. The cotton case is designed so that for example, the 7's are all three needles in one place, and the same is true for the other sets. I got the 5-to-10 set. I love carrying them around and have taken to using from the set, but having some longer denise cords with me as the cords are all interchangeable, and I can keep things straight. Hope that  helps. Has anyone used these flex tips in the message below?

With double pointed needles, you need 4 or more needles to knit off a hat, so how does this set work?
It would be nice to have my double pointed needles in a case, so I can tell what size they are!
I do not understand how these work with only 2 needles.

Yesterday there were tornado warnings, heavy rain, thunderstorms, and tropical blasts of warmth.  Halloween in our little village was postponed to tonight.  Aside from the massive puddles and downed branches, it's a much more seasonal, chilly Halloween day.  It's the kind of crisp that makes us want to start new yarn projects - or resurrect abandoned ones.  After an evening of going from house to house visiting neighbors and gathering candy with my daughter, I'm looking forward to a cozy night with short tip needles and a hat project (maybe sampling the rejected candy).
