[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Trying to pick a yarn for the knitting class this coming Thursday.

Ari, I agree with what Terry said about buying new yarn if you already have some. But let me say that a gage is only a guess really. People knit tighter and looser, and different patterns will make different measurements. I really haven't been able to shop successfully online, so you are ahead of me. One more thing: I think the soft red refers to the color, not the feel of the yarn, just in case there was any confusion about that. Bernat probably makes a yarn intended to be soft, but I would have to feel it to know. See you on the phone Thursday.

I'm trying not to leave the house too much, except for grocery shopping; my husband also went on a little hike with the dogs because our caben fever was just getting to be too much. Anyhow, I was wondering what people thought of it. Has anyone used it? How soft is it?

Also, on a related note, I'm finding out that a lot of places will give you a gauge, but they'll only give you half the information you need, like 8 STS per inch on U.S. 8 needles; they leave out the rows per inch. Also, not sure why they choose to write it as x stitches per inch, rather than as x stitches per 4 inches--I mean, your gauge swatch is a 4-inch by 4-inch square. That's the way it's written on the yarn label for the Bernat yarn I bought. I find this rather annoying, since the info is on the label--why not put that on the on-line info, too? Sheesh!
