Hi Ari and everyone, I would let Ramona tell us what types of yarns she
thinks are best for her class.
Terry and I will be sitting in on the class for review purposes.
I will be using 4 ply Worsted Weight yarn and size 8 needles.
Terry and I have been knitting for many years.
See you all in class!

Hi Ari.
I'd guess "satin" is smooth, and not scratchy.
Yarns advertised as "for baby" are usually soft and washable.
But you can probably do fine, learning to cast on with what you've got on
hand.

Knitpicks isn't a brand; it's a company, knitpicks.com. They have their own
brands, seems like.
Tracy

this coming Thursday.

Hello, everyone,

I'm trying to pick a yarn for the knitting class coming up this Thursday. I
didn't see Knitpicks brand on Amazon, but I came across this. I'm trying not
to leave the house too much, except for grocery shopping; my husband also
went on a little hike with the dogs because our caben fever was just getting
to be too much. Anyhow, I was wondering what people thought of it. Has
anyone used it? How soft is it?

Bernat Satin Solid Yarn, 3.5 oz, Gauge 4 Medium Worsted, 100% Acrylic, Soft
Red

I had to Google how many yarns came in a scane, as Amazon didn't tell me.
Also, on a related note, I'm finding out that a lot of places will give you
a gauge, but they'll only give you half the information you need, like 8 STS
per inch on U.S. 8 needles; they leave out the rows per inch. Also, not sure
why they choose to write it as x stitches per inch, rather than as x
stitches per 4 inches--I mean, your gauge swatch is a 4-inch by 4-inch
square. That's the way it's written on the yarn label for the Bernat yarn I
bought. I find this rather annoying, since the info is on the label--why not
put that on the on-line info, too? Sheesh!

Thanks,
Ari
