Hi Bernice, did you receive Terrys and my request to join your class?
She wrote to you on the list, and, I wrote to you directly.
Thanks and looking forward to the class.
Terry and Henry

Subject: [NFB-Krafters-Korner] Pop UP class, log cabin pattern

Good morning,

I am going to give a pop up class on the log cabin pattern on April 5 from
7:00 to 8:00 PM. We can extend it a bit if we need to, and I will be
available after the class for questions or ideas.

I was intrigued by the discussion on the list. This is a great way to use up
odd amounts of yarn of the same thickness/type. You could make everything
from an afghan, dishcloth, potholder, down to a coaster depending how many
stitches you start with and the type of yarn you use.

I will cover types of log cabin patterns, how to pick up stitches on the
edge of a bind off and garter stitch. Also, I have conquered changing color.

I used AIRA to find 6 shades of blue which I am currently working on to make
a blanket for my grandson. He just informed me yesterday that he wants some
other colors around the outside. My son-in-law and I will shop in my stash
for more colors.

What you need to know: cast on, knit, and bind off.

Materials needed:

A great deal of leeway is possible.

Pick a weight of yarn, and gather together the partial skeins from your
stash. If you are making an afghan, the further you get in it the bigger
amount of a color you will need. I am using worsted weight yarn.

A 24 to 36 inch circular needle. I am using a 24 inch size 9 needle. I may
need to go up to a 36 inch needle before I am done.

You will also need scissors, yarn needle, and a safety pin.

I find the knit ridges easy to count, so I'm not using any type of counter,
but you certainly can if you want to use something else to keep track of 40
rows.

I am looking forward to letting interested krafters know what I have learned
to help make this a fun useful project.

Please email me at Bernice.J.Bird at gmail.com
<mailto:Bernice.J.Bird at gmail.com> if you want to join me.

Bernice and the adorable Lolo.
