Hah Dotty, very funny!
It's the Glengarry hat from Folk Hats by Vicki Square, available on
Bookshare.  
First, the colorwork band was too narrow for my taste, which I figured out
several rows after I was done with it.  Then I was careless with my markers
when I ripped back, and got the colors off by a bit.  Pulled it out again,
then the short rows were wrong.  And, finally, grafted the final seam, only
to realize next day I'd done it on the wrong side!  I mean, really!  Then,
messed up some stitches, pulling out the seam.  
It should have taken a few days, and it's taking weeks.  Not that I'm in a
big rush, but still!
