Hi,

I don't know if anyone else other than Joyce recognizes today as the
anniversary of Terry Knox's passing.  Terry was my friend.  We met here at
Krafters Korner.  She shared her love of crafts and her love of Jesus with
us.  I miss her very much.  Krafters Korner used to be a place where we
could laugh a lot, craft a lot, and feel like family.  I know that is how
Terry felt until she became sick with cancer.  There were many times that
she brought laughter and encouragement to this korner.  So in honor of her
memory, I am sharing her post on how to make a granny square.  Please know
that you are loved and missed Terry.

Terry's granny square

Below is the Granny Square I taught today. Remember there are many ways to
make a granny so enjoy this simple one. Any questions please let me know.

Make slip stitch and chain 8.

Make a slip stitch to first stitch to form a ring.

Row one: ch 3, make 3 dc into ring, count your set of 3 ch as your first dc,
making 4 completed dcs. Ch 2, make 4 dc again in ring. Repeat 2 more times.,
at last ch 2 make sl st in top of ch made in previous row to complete row.

Row two: Sl st into next 3 dc st of previous row to move your crochet to
Space without making stitches. At the first space, chain 3 and make 3 dc
into sp. Ch 2, make 4 dc into same sp. Ch 2, 4 dc, ch2, 4 dc in next sp.
Continue this pattern in all four corners. To end and sl st to join and
complete row two.

Row three. As in previous, sl st in top of dc until space where you continue
the pattern of ch 3, 3 dcc, ch2, 4 dc, ch 2. In this row you will be making
the straight side of the corners. Find the next space and make 4 dc, ch 2
and then go to the next corner and repeat pattern.

That is the only change in the pattern adding the additional straingh sides
to expand and make the square larger in each round.

If you are doing a color change, after joining the round, cut your working
yarn, pulling it thru and attach you new color to a corner with a knot tie
and make your chain 3 and continue around from there.

At the end of your granny square, it is advisable to thread your tapesty
needle and back stitch your ends into the stitching before cutting.
