[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Cable needle

I have used several different types of cable needles.
There is the J shaped needle in which the stitches go on the short end and
are knit off of the long end. I have seen these in metal, wood and acrylic.
There is one that looks like a long bar with a v shaped notch in the middle
of it. I have only seen these in metal.

There is a wooden one that looks like a miniature double pointed needle, it
has grooves around the shaft to help to keep the needle from slipping out of
the work.

Some people just use double pointed needles, or circular needles, or a
pencil, or even an opened and then bent to the desired shape paper clip.

The stitch holders that are shaped like a large safety pin work if you don't
mind slipping your stitches back onto the needle before knitting them off.

My favorite though is a little tiny circular needle. The way it bends helps
to keep the stitches on, and I can tuck the tips into the work to keep it
from moving around while I am working the other stitches in the cable.

I tuck it over my ear, or in my pony tail between cable rows.


The one I have is an Addi circular needle like a size 1 in I think it is 8
or 9 inches.

I'm thinking of buying some more cable needles, since I'm always misplacing
them.

I have the candy cane type, but I know there are other types, like the one
with a little jog in the middle.  It seems like that one wouldn't stay where
I put it very well, but maybe I'm wrong.

Does anyone like a cable needle that's not the candy cane, and what are the
good points of the other kinds?
