Thanks Becky. I'll add doilies to my list of fun things to try making.
I've felt doilies that were made of thicker yarn than lace, so it shouldn't
be ridiculously hard. And I love patterns with leaves and flowers.

Doilies are awesome, Not only are they a beautiful touch, they offer
practicality. A doily will keep your lamps from scratching your furniture. I
have many made by my great Aunt, sad face. I wish the art form would come
back. Have I made them, yes, but not with the thread they normally use
Right now, on my dining room table, I have one with eight peddle-like ends
highlighting the butterfly decorator vase. I have one I made out of four ply
on my white foot stool to keep it clean. Yet my feet are on that foot stool
every day. The four-ply doily saves the day. Oh, I have another doily under
a trivet my church gave me for an easter gift. Definitely the doily is
saving my furniture from being scraped. I have an air cleaner with a heavier
doily underneath. On my night-stand is another which covers the entire
length. You just never know what I will put on it as it is the last stop
before the Chair lift on my stairs.

Doilies are a lovely gift. They are practical like I mentioned.

Warm smile,
Becky

I have crochet books with patterns for doilies in them, which sound pretty,
but I've never made one. They don't seem practical-more like things my
grandma had in her house, which was much neater than mine. But is that
true? Does anyone here make doilies? Are they useful?

Tracy
