Correct. Once it is cooled, that is when you will glue anything on that you might want, including the magnet. You can get sets of clay with many different colors for $20 or so. This is about 20 little packets or cubes of clay. If you buy the clay individual, they are a bit larger pieces, and can range anywhere from $2.30 up to five dollars or so. It really depends on where you get it.
