I am also teaching a hand sewing 101 class on April 22 at 7:00 PM for anyone interested in learning these pre-requisites. Prerequisites for the sewing machine method include ability to thread your sewing machine needle, and ability to use a sewing machine guide for straight seam allowance, and ability to perform simple running stitch.  I will also have some prerequisite audio videos that I can share for folks who want to learn adaptive sewing machine tools / techniques that I can supply on request.

> Supplies and preparation instructions if not buying Mitsy kit:
> - one 10-inch cotton square in a color and pattern of choice.  This will be the primary pattern viewed on the hot pad.
> - one 13-inch cotton square with solid color for backing and faux binding (it should be a color to coordinate with the 10-inch cotton square)
> - one 10-inch thermal batting square (I like to use Insul-Brite.  This is not just regular quilt batting.  Whatever brand you buy, you need to make sure it is made to insulate from heat.)
> - plastic clips and or straight pins for assembly.
> Pinning instructions - You will need to position the ten-inch batting square in the center of the 13-inch backing fabric which should be positioned wrong side up.  Then place the 10-inch cotton square face up on top of the ten-inch batting square.  This should result in the 10-inch cotton and batting squares being surrounded by a 1- and 1/2-inch border of the wrong side of backing fabric.  Safety pin or straight pin the 10-inch batting and cotton fabric in center of backing fabric with one pin about an inch from the upper left corner, one in the center, and one about an inch from the lower right corner, to keep the squares in place while sewing
