I'll explain it again, and, if you still want a class, we can talk about it.  It's a brief explanation because it's pretty simple.  Maybe other people can improve on it.

In a stockinette section--knit 1 row, purl the next--I put a marker where I was going to start my writing.  On a knit row, I put one purl where the bottom dot of a braille character would be.  Not all characters have bottom dots, so I counted 2 stitches for each cell and 1 for each separator until I got to my spot.
So, the word I chose was "gold".  So:
Knit 3, purl 1 (for the bottom dot of the o), knit 2 (the blank side of the o cell and a separator), purl 1 for the bottom of the l, knit the rest of the row.
Purl back.
Next row:  purl 2 for the bottom of the g, knit 2, purl 1 for the right side of the o, knit 1 separator, purl 1 for the middle of the l, knit 3, purl 1 for the right side of the d.
Purl back.
Purl 2 for the top of the g, knit 1 separator, purl 1 for the top of the o, knit 2, purl 1 for the top of the l, knit 2, purl 2 for the top of the d, and it's done.

As you can see, it takes some planning and counting, and the dots are not crystal clear because of the nature of yarn, but it worked well enough.

Hi Tracy,

I am quite curious about how you created the braille in your square. I see that you breifly explained it. But I wonder if you would be willing to teach a class, say via email, where you could explain how to set up and then knit braille. It could be a simple word. I would really like to understand how it is done. 
I remember that one time Dixie explained in detail how she set up the design of a cabled square. It was really interesting. This would be as well.
