Hi Bernice!

This sounds adorable!  Having just completed what I thought was a really
large afghan, I am so happy that you did yours differently than mine.  Mine
was all in one piece, and it grew so large!!!!!!  I used to not understand
why people would sew their afghans together when they could just make it all
in one piece???  Now I understand perfectly after my experience.

I used to have a beautiful description of how to do the mattress stitch,
given to me by someone who explained it very well.  It was on my old
computer.  If I remember where I got it, I'll send it to you.

I am working on my daughter's afghan. I bought a yarn called Feels like
Butta in yellow. I was going to make a cape for my daughter, but she decided
plane yellow isn't her color any more. I am knitting with a double strand on
size 7 needles. The yellow strip is mistake stitch ribbing which makes a
very plush pattern. I bought more yarn in dusty blue which is a light blue,
and am making a strip of kind of a modified checkerboard. Next I ordered a
darker rich blue and I haven't decided what the pattern will be for it yet.
Then I will make another strip like the yellow one. It will measure 66
inches by 54 inches. I want to learn the blanket stitch to sew them
together. It is really so soft.

Ladies once again this list is for crafting. If there is something about the
group that you don't like or would like to see changed the place to express
your thoughts is to the roses and thorn email list. Personally I'd like to
hear about what everyone has been working on. This week I made a dog print
lap blanket which I knitted up. There are 6 plain cream squares, 6 light
brown small dog print squares, 6 yellow medium paw print squares and 6
medium brown large paw print squares. Once I finished knitting all the
squares I hand sewed them all together into a nice pattern. Now I'm
attempting to knit a doily and thinking of sewing a loom flower that I
learned last week on the outer edge of the doily if the flowers don't look
to big.
