Yes, the Authentic Knitting Board brand of looms are very good. Terry and I have several of them both in the round and oblong ones..
Another brand that are very good are the ones made by Cindy Wood Craft, they are more expensive, and, I might not recommend them for the beginner due to the fact that if you find that you don't like looming you won't be out a lot of money.

No they are not crummy. We some of us have gotten what is called the Flexi looms and they have two gauges one is a small gauge and the other one is a chunky or regular gauge. We can show you how to use those I can explain it to you.
Authentic knitting board is one place you can get other types of limbs.
But if you don’t have a loom for this first class that is OK just come and listen and we can tell you more. Come to the 7 o’clock class.

Terry,
I thought I signed up for a loom knitting class, but did not receive any information.  
The thing is, I have only done classic knitting -- you know with needles -- and lots of it, but have never seen a knitting loom. 
I saw in the description the mention of a 24-peg loom, so I went on Amazon to find such a thing, but there were tons of items, and I got totally confused!
Can you tell me what I need to get started?
