Hello all!  Have you ever wanted to try making a hand-sewn quilt but were concerned about being able to cut out and arrange your fabric pieces or stitch in a straight line?

Mitsy Kit Quilt by Touch hand sewing class will provide you with everything you need to complete beautiful hand-sewn quilts using pre-cut fabric pieces with tactile indicators on the fabric to ensure proper piecing directionality, and a tactile border on the edges to guide your hand-stitching by touch!

The first quilt by touch class will be to make a double diamond quilt - attached is a sample picture of four completed blocks of the sixteen block quilt.  The quilt is made of sixteen, ten-inch squares with four half square triangles sewn on all four corners to make a diamond in a diamond pattern with coordinating colors.

The class will be broken into four monthly sessions from September through November with some homework assigned to be completed in between the sessions.  To make it more affordable, we are also offering a four-month payment plan for those who would like this option.

The quilt will be approximately 38 inches square when complete. Cost is $17.50 per month September - November which includes fleece backing and free shipping, or $18.75 per month with batting and cotton backing and free shipping. Your kit will include 16 white ten-inch squares combined with the following choices of 5-inch squares for the half-square triangles:

1)Two butterfly squares in purple, pink, yellow, blue and lime green sparkly fabric, with one yellow with faint white flower square and one lime green with faint white flower square. (As shown in attached picture)

2) Four butterfly squares, or

3) Two butterfly squares and two light blue squares with faint white flowers.

Skills needed:  Ability to thread a hand sewing needle, knot the thread, and tie it off in the sewing project.  Ability to pin or clip fabric together as directed by the instructor using tactile indicators.  Ability to perform running stitches and back stitches using hand-sewing needle and thread.

The four-class dates and times will be:

  1.  09/07/2021 @ 5:00 PM EST
  2.  09/28/2021 @ 7:00 PM EST
  3.  10/26/2021 @ 7:00 PM EST
  4.  11/23/2021 @ 7:00 PM EST

All fabric will be provided with your kit to complete.  You will need to provide your own sewing notions like thread, needles, thimbles, straight pins, pin cushion, needle threader, small craft scissors, and a large table surface to work on.  If you need to buy sewing notions we do also provide sewing notion kits on our website.
