[NFB-Krafters-Korner] looming technique

Currently, I am making a 10 stitch blanket using two strands of yarn. This is the way I have it set up. First, each strand is a ball in A plastic bag with the yarn coming out of the top. at the top of each bag there is an elastic hair band that keeps the bag closed enough to prevent the ball from coming out but, allowing the yarn to be easily pulled out. I have threaded both strands through a 6 inch plastic straw. The straw is a standard size not a jumbo size straw. As long as I work with fairly short segments of the yarn the straw helps keep the strands from twisting between the loom and the straw. for some unknown reason the yarn between the straw and the bags does get twisted but, because of the straw I can untangle this quite easily. I contain everything including the loom with the project on it in a tote. As for keeping two different colored yarns separate the only idea I can come up with is to use a small segment of a straw on one of the strands and place it between the loom and the straw that contains both yarns. when I work everything is directly in front of me at my feet. I agree with Henry and Terry about having the yarn coming up over the top of the loom as you work. I hope this helps and gives you some ideas to help you make your project a success.
