[NFB-Krafters-Korner] amigurumi patterns & hooks

What are the advantages to use these hooks made for amigurumi 


Crocheting?

  A friend showed me one of them.  My guess was that it was size C hook, but
the handle was totally round, narrow and I am guessing less then 6" from tip
of hook to end of handle.  Is there a special weight yarn & type of fiber
that is used to make theses?
