I think thin can be very nice for a shawl.  They can get a bit heavy.

I bought simply soft and it sure is soft. It does seem a little thin though.

I used to love Simply Soft; it was worsted weight.  But the last few skeins
I got were not what I'd call worsted weight.  It could have just been a
batchof it, but I had to stop getting it.  Now I don't find anything that
was soft like that.

I've been using something from Herschner's but I don't count it as soft.
_However, I'll say one thing for it:  if I make a mess, which is often, the
stitches will just stand there quietly and wait for me.  I can fix a mistake
in a jiffy.  And I think it would be warm, so I'm using it for my charity
winter items.  But I was a great fan of simply soft.
