[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Students: Moccasen Class

Hi Terry,
I had a few holes that weren't punched out also. If you take it out and
start over, I found this helpful. When you do the first step, don't pull it
super tight. Then do the second step. Then I tightened the first step and
then the second one. You know, it is supposed to gather, right? I think if I
were to do another pair, I would ask a sighted person to make sure all of
holes were punched through, and to have that person put a string or yarn in
the diamond holes. My friend put the yarn through the hole, and tied a loose
knot. You have to be sure you take the string out before gathering the heel
or using the diamond holes near the front. You wouldn't be able to get it
out if you try to get it out after pulling the cord tight and gathering it.
I think you might not be pulling and gathering tight enough if you don't
have enough cord. I had plenty left over.
I can't wait for the easter tote kit to come. Although, it is getting a
little expensive buying all of these kits. I guess I deserve them though.
Bernice

How many diamonds did you find?
Another thing that made me mad, is some of the holes were not punched out.
You could hardly feal them. I had trouble punching a few, out!
I laced all holes, but after reading the directions, might do it over!
Hardly had enough lacing!

Terry

My friend was here when class began, and she ran a tiny piece of yarn
through all of the diamond hole. So, that helped a lot. I frankly couldn't
tell the diamond holes from the round holes.

There were 7 folks that showed up for the class out of 14 that signed up.

I will be having the second class next Wednesday and I will begin where we
left off tonight.

Most of the students was able to get the top of the toe part attached to the
sole. Folks had some trouble determining the difference between the the
diamond shaped holes and the round holes. I basically told folks to take
the time to feel and become comfortable feeling the different. They
actually made the slippers to fit 2 different sizes. So the round holes
make the small size and the diamond shape makes the larger size. Example:
Size S [6, 7].

I will begin with doing the heel and finishing with the cuff.

I believe Len & Debra B. had to leave early. If I missed anyone please let
me know.
