[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Moccasin students

I took the ends, used to do the edging and brought them through the outer big holes of the toe. I am going to tie a bow and add a wooden bead to each end.

Sounds like you did the toe, right. I did the same, holding the toe, against the soal and matching the holes. I also made sure I had the same number of holes, on each side of the sole, behind, where I started and stopped.
I scanned the directions and had trouble following them, with the Spanish, combined!
I lined up the holes, on the back, went in with the hard end of the lace and used the lower 2 rows of holes. I almost made a mistake, until I thought about it and realized, the boader has to go in that top row!
I made an x on the inside and a bow, on the outside. I knotted the end, where I cut the lace.

I added my trim, using an in, out weave, leaving the tail, on the outside. I think my secont tail, ended on the inside.
I went around and evened my tails, the best I could. Now I have to tie my bows and add my beads, after I dig them out!

Hope I am correct and this helps anyone!

Terry

I hope you feel better soon.
I got my second shot on Thursday. I’ve noticed a lot of tiredness at various times.
Also, my kit came too late for the 1st class, and I wasn’t exactly sure how to put the kit together, but I explored it on my own. I found it hard to tell the difference between the diamond and circular holes, so for the toe area, what I did was line up the oval piece of leather with the padding of the shoe, in the toe area, found the last hold on the oval piece, to either side of the toe and from there, found a hole on the side of the shoe that matched up with the toe hole. In this way, I stitched up the toe, but maybe I didn’t do it right because the 4 large holes across the center are still lonely since I didn’t put the laces through them.
For the heel, I put the laces through the bottom 2 holes and 3 pieces of leather from the inside out. Then I made a crisscross of the laces and put the ends through from the outside in and stitched up the sides from there and tied the finishing knots once I went through all the holes. So, the knots I tied to finish off the toe area and the knots I tied at the sides of the shoe are basically right next to each other. I wear a size 6, and I was happily surprised to find that they fit me comfortably.
I hope this didn’t confuse you and that some of it made sense. Now I’m curious to see how it is actually supposed to be done.
Best,
Valerie
