If you both had been at the Friday chat, Shellie told us, she uses the
large, mesh, zipper bags, to line her knitted bags.
She just sews it in at the top, to my understanding.

I totally agree about the stretching. People are talking about knitting book
bags, and I think knitting or crocheting them is impractical, because of the
stretching. If I had a sewing machine, I wouldn't hesitate to make a lining,
but I don't have one. I thought that cotton would be good because it doesn't
really stretch, but I pulled on my dishcloth and it stretches because it is
knitted. The yarn itself doesn't stretch, but the stitches stretch. I guess
I will stick with scarves and hats that I know will last. I'm thinking about
buying a simple sewing machine. I also have a good friend that sews a lot
and quilts, and maybe she would make me some linings. I will ask her today
Bernice

Berneice, maybe I missed something, but I suggest you line a book bag to
keep it from stretching too much since books are heavy. The lining can be
plain cotton fablic sewed to the edge of the turndown on top. Or the
drawstring can go through both the lining and the knitted outside. I make
lots of gift bags, but have been too lazy to line them, thinking that people
don't have to carry them around by the drawstrings much.
