I use the Singer 4423 which is a straight forward no frills hard
working machine, and really like it. I know Joyce uses a brother.
The singer is manual no touch screens etc. You can thread it yourself.
It has a needle threader built into the machine, but you could use a
needle threader if you find the built-in threader too cumbersome.
