I grabbed a macramé book from Bookshare called Macrame for Beginners: 24
Easy Projects for Home and Garden.

It looks good so far.  I looked a bit at the descriptions of how to tie
various knots, and they made sense.  I was worried they might be
picture-dependent, but so far so good. 

There are other macramé books on Bookshare; I just chose one.

Hooray for Bookshare!
