Tracey,
What is the make and model of your little sewing machine, please. I was
thinking that I would like a small machine that I could hem things, and make
quilted squares. Does your machine have a stitch guide?
At one time I did a production job where I sewed tiny cotton sleeves for a
barometer, and there was no stitch guide. I refused to work on it after of a
few hours of running the needle into the tip of my finger. The machine I
used in high school had a very handy stitch guide. I never ran the needle
into my finger using it. 
My home-ec teacher was a bit mean. The rest of the girls in the class used a
treddle machine in about 1962. She said I should use the electric machine
since I was a big girl and should make my own clothes. I was somewhat over
weight, but not that much. Sweet lady! I was glad when she left. However, I
made a apron, gathered skirt and vest, a pleated skirt-jacket and blouse
that matched, and a plaid jumper. 
My Mom was a fantastic seamstress. She made my wedding dress, with a long
train and vail. It was wonderful, and I wish I knew what to do with it. She
also crocheted a multi layered christening gown for my daughter. Again, I
don't know what to do with it.

I made a nice hat with a pine tree knitted into it, and sent it to my
sister.  I'm going to make one for myself, too.  The pattern is called
Spruced Up, and is on Ravelry for around $7.

I'm also getting near the end of the sweater I'm knitting.  I'm closing up
the side seam, and then I have the neck and sleeves left to do.  It's called
Gridlines, and it's knit vertically.  It has an all-over pattern of squares,
hence the name.  It's interesting, but I'll be glad to finish it and move
on.

I also have to figure out how to thread my little sewing machine so I can
hem a tablecloth.  It seems like a good project to try out my machine for
the first time.  The threading could be the hardest part.

The list is really quiet. Does that mean you are all crafting? Do you have
all your Christmas gifts made or are you still hard at work? Unlike me maybe
your out side enjoying some nice weather. I've gotten a lot of crafting done
the last few days. Our temps are unbelievable cold, today with the wind
chill it was  -60 below out. So  I've been knitting mittens and hand sewing
some bags that would make good book bags.  The only good reason for this
cold weather is that I have an excuse to say home and craft craft and craft
some more. Sure hope I don't run out of supplies!

What are you working on?

 

Did you know every time I try to eat healthy along comes Christmas, Easter,
summer, Friday and ruins it for me.
