As the pattern says, this a pattern that Joyce shared. I'm not sure when. It was forwarded to me from someone else.

Black Labrador pony beads
Materials:
. 2 yards of ribbon, or cord
. 65 black pony beads
. 2 white pony beads
5  Silver sparkle beads for collar
Joyce's  Lab pattern.

Starting at top of head:
 Fold cord in half and tie over hand knot leaving a loop a little less then
1 inch Row 1 put 2 beads on each cord and slide up to knot snuggly.
Row 2 4 beads on 1 end of cord and with other cord work thru the beads in
the opposite direction of the cord the beads are first put on.  You will now
have the cord coming out on 2 sides of this row.
Ears:  
On single cord on one side put 2 beads on cord.  Push beads up tight to Row
2.  Work end thru first bead you just put on and pull end tight to position
these 2 beads close to Row 2.  Repeat this on the other side with the single
cord on that side.
Row 3 1 black, 1 white,1 black, 1 white,1 black., work other cord thru this
row going in opposite direction so you will have cords coming out on each
side of row. [I will list rows from this point with just the beads until I
have a row that is basically different.
Row 4 5 black
Row 5   3 black
Row 6    3 black
Row 7   3 black
Row 8 5 silver sparkle
Row 9    5 black
Row 10   5 black
Row 11   5 Black
Row 12   6 black
Row 13   With one side single cord put 7 beads on, push these beads up to
the body put cord thru bead farthest from  the end of cord in direction back
toward body.  Be sure cord is pulled tight up against the body.  Beads form
a circle.  With cord on opposite side put 6 black beads and then put cord
with tail thru the 6 beads.  You should have cord coming out of 2 sides.
Feet:
With one single cord put 2 beads on cord. Put cord thru second bead from
side going back in the direction of the side.  This will anchor beads.  Now
with that cord tie a knot between the 2 beads of foot with the end of the
cord.  Make another knot right after that knot so cord protrudes down
between 2 beads on foot.

Repeat for other foot. 

Add some glue and let dry to secure knots.  Trim excess cord.

I have an idea for the dogs head that should prevent the triangle at the
top.

If you have some extra beads, try this out.

After making your over hand knot, add 1 black bead to one side and bring the
other chord through the bead.  You should have 1 bead with chord coming  out
of each end.  Add one black bead to each chord.
This is the tricky part, add your 5 beads to 1 chord and bring the other
chord through just the 5 you added and tighten.  You should now have a row
of 3 and a row of 5.  Now add your ears and continue as before.
