Subject: Re: [NFB-Krafters-Korner] candy canes

these are great fun. when i was a kid we made them from pipe cleaners and
tri beads. recently i have made them from 20 gage wire and glass pearls or
transparent glass or plastic faceted beads. i have done all colors
alternating with clear or white.
some ideas for colors that look great
dark blue/clear
dark purple/clear
red/clear
bright pink/clear
dark green/clear

pearl colors
gold/white or ivory
burgundy/white or ivory
hunter green/white or ivory
aqua/white or silver
lavender/white or silver
dark purple/white or silver
pale pink/white or silver
bright pink/white or silver
silver and white
red /white or silver
med green/white or silver
dark blue/white or silver
royal blue/white or silver
champagne/white

i use a 10mm sized bead for a larger candy cane and if i want smaller ones i
use 8mm or 6mm

you can use starflake beads sometimes called sunburst or paddle beads as the
clear beads and they look great but use a small size like the beads you are
using or the wire wont bend then i use pipe cleaners or ribbons for bows and
add a bell or some artificial holly i cut from a floral pick to decorate the
bow you can even thread sequins between the beads such an easy and fun craft
to do that will brighten up any tree or package.
